When the pandemic started in 2020., many were shocked, surprised, and even petrified. But not astrologers. As a matter of fact, many astrologers have been very open in the years prior about the detrimental event that would occur in the year 2020. Now, almost two years into the pandemic, we're all lusting for that sigh of relief. Yearning for a sense of normalcy, or what most of us consider "our old way of life." It's unlikely we'll get back to normal soon. Powerful astrological events await us in the year 2022. Are we going to get that relaxing and liberating collective sigh? Or should we start preparing for a new type of apocalypse? Let's find out.
The Start of the Year 2022
On January 14th, we're going to experience Mercury retrograde. This Mercury retrograde will last until February 3rd. Mercury will start in the sign of Capricorn, retrograde into Aquarius and then enter back into Capricorn. During the year 2022, Mercury will be in retrograde a total of four times. Below are the dates of Mercury retrogrades in 2022:
- January 14th - January 3rd. (Capricorn - Aquarius)
- May 10th - June 3rd. (Gemini - Taurus)
- September 9th - October 2nd. (Virgo - Libra)
- December 29th - January 18th, 2023. (Capricorn)
Mercury retrograde usually leaves us feeling odd and somewhat disconnected. Mercury is the planet that governs communication and intellect, and some refer to Mercury as the messenger in astrology. When Mercury goes into retrograde, technology tends to start glitching, servers go down, communication gets harder and trickier, and somehow our toxic exes tend to try and make a reappearance back into our life. So make sure you mark these dates and remember to be patient in communication with others.
Other Retrogrades
Venus retrograde will occur from December 19th, 2021, lasting until January 29th, 2022, in the sign of Capricorn. Venus is the planet that governs over love, creativity, and money. This could indicate that those who are in a relationship or marriage might be off to a rocky start. Communication, patience, and offering understanding are going to be crucial in January 2022.
Another retrograde that will come to an end in January is Uranus retrograde. It has been in retrograde ever since August 19th, 2021. Uranus will go back into direct on January 18th. The retrograde will occur in the sign of Taurus. Uranus is the planet of innovation and progressiveness, meaning that when this retrograde ends, we may all start to breathe a little easier. YAY!
Retrogrades mean that the planet in question seems to be going backward. They have garnered a certain amount of animosity, or as some would say, a bad rep. Although retrogrades altogether don't necessarily mean something bad. How much a retrograde will affect you, personally, often depends on whether or not you were born when a certain planet or planets were in retrograde. For example, if you were born during a Mercury retrograde, you won't be affected by its effects as much as others would be.

- Pluto retrograde - April 29th, 2022 until October 8th, 2022

- Jupiter retrograde - July 28th, 2022 until November 23rd, 2022
- Uranus retrograde - August 24th, 2022 until January 22nd, 2023
The Importance of Jupiter and Neptune During 2022
Jupiter is the planet that governs good fortune and represents abundance and expansion. It is the ruler of the Sagittarius sign. Neptune is the planet that governs over spirituality, dreams, and introspection. Neptune is the ruler of Pisces. These two planets will be of great significance during the year 2022.
On April 12th, Jupiter will conjunct Neptune in Pisces. The last time Jupiter conjunct Neptune was in 2009, and however, the last time that Jupiter conjunct Neptune in Pisces occurred in 1856. The economic world, as well as the world of politics and entertainment, is going to change.
All signs point to a change on a deeper level. For example, we might see some changes in currency (crypto), politics, and technology.
Eclipses
Lunar and solar eclipses are powerful events, and many feel like some chaos ensues once an eclipse occurs. However, the change that lunar and solar eclipses make it all worth it. People used to fear eclipses in the past, but now we know that there is nothing to fear. When an eclipse occurs, we should listen to our inner guide as much as possible. In 2022, we won't have any total solar eclipses, but we will have two partial solar eclipses. The first one will occur on April 30th, and the second one will be on October 25th. The dates on which total lunar eclipses will occur are May 16th and November 28th. Remember to be mindful of others, but most importantly - yourself during these astrological events.

Beginning Of 2022 - King of Swords
The keyword is trepidation. 2022 starts on a serious note. New rules are enacted to ensure the pandemic stays behind us. It's a sober time. We've learned what doesn't work for us and are committed to making what does work a reality. It's a mental time where logic is king and truth is queen. However, the clouds in the card's background suggest it won't go as planned, and natural disasters will happen. There will likely be a resurgence of old issues from 2021 and a warning not to be too ridge in our commitments. Make room for blessings and consider the thoughts and feelings of your family before acting.
Middle Of 2022 - Wheel of Fortune
The keywords are Divine Timing and in Divine Order. Around the summer, there is a sense of relief and prosperity. More people are living where they truly want and have jobs they love. There's a shake-up in family life, such as new love coming in. Conversely, there's divorce and break-up for good reasons. Magic and manifestations are strong when people feel mentally and emotionally fulfilled and charismatic about the year. Preserve what matters. Out with the old and in with the new. It's a perfect time for spontaneity.
End Of 2022 - Page of Pentacles
The keyword is opportunity. Many are mastering a new skill or hobby. A sense of harmony and longevity is around the end of the year. There's a feeling of "if I can get through this, I can get through anything." As a collective, we've grown. It's a peaceful time. Prep for 2023 is underway.
All in all, 2022 will end on a good note. There is a sense that this is the calm before the storm. People take precautions and save up so that 2023 is stable. Some get lost in preparation and money, while others honor their intuition and (some for the first time) excel at meditating.
