Spirit Song: The Introduction to No Eyes by Mary Summer Rain

I want to introduce to you a book called Spirit Song: The introduction to No Eyes by Mary Summer Rain. The original draft of this book was released in the early 90s and told a beautiful and tumultuous tale of the journey of a teacher and student building a genuine spiritual connection while finding their way through an adventure to greater knowledge. The titular “No Eyes” is a character that any true-hearted nature lover will connect with in unending ways. At the same time, 'Summer' is a relatable and perfectly imperfect student of the native teaching methods of her spiritual tutor in No Eyes.

I chose this short but vividly detailed book to share with readers because I found a unique connection that went deeper than most stories in this genre. I have read it many times, but I find my connection to the passionate intrinsic details this story weaves for the creative mind growing with every read. Beyond going into the nature of spirituality, creation, and the value of the human spirit, this book will resonate with anyone who's ever had a really great teacher or a guide through more than just one facet of life, where their sheer energy and existence in the world brought you more peace and understanding on your journey.

Something of the alchemy created between the deep descriptions of the wildlife and nature woven with the story of two women fulfilling their lives in harmony has brought love and energy into my life that I sincerely hope to share with every reader of this recommendation. Books are the gateway into the mind and beyond, allowing the reader to enter worlds beyond our own and create emotional bonds with the world outside our physical reality. This is the magic I continue to find repeatedly in this book. I hope the guiding light of the ways of nature and spiritual growth will lend you the same grace and insight it has lent me from these pages.

Experiments in Dreaming by Andrea Kasprzak

Experiment in Dreaming by Andrea Kasprzak is an introspective guided dream journal that breaks down ten common types of dreams. It provides exercises for working through, processing, and understanding these dreams. The book is unique because it combines a spiritual approach to dream interpretation with an artistic one, inviting readers to think like artists to find their own meaning.

I selected this book for the Psychic Summer Reading List because it offers an entirely different slant on the dreaming process. Instead of relying on a static dream journal, the book helps people feel comfortable decoding their own dreams and gives them the tools in a simple, sweet, and accessible way. It helped me make sense of my own dreams and look forward to sleep!

I think anyone who dreams and wonders should read this. The more we learn to trust our intuition and begin to create our own meanings, the more we discover how to give expression to the images, emotions, and energies of our dreams. It is an art form to record and understand our dreams. This journal will guide readers deeper into the world of the soul.

The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn

The Game of Life and How to Play It was published in 1925 and teaches the philosophies of its author, Florence Scovel Shinn. Though nearly 100 years old, Shinn was well ahead of her time, and this book remains timeless. The book bases its premise on the theory that life is not a battle but a game of giving and receiving. Whatever we send out to the world will come back to us, which modern spiritualists will recognize as the basis of 'The Law of Attraction.' Further, Shinn was a teacher of a concept called 'New Thought', which held that you could create your future solely by your own thoughts, words, and actions.

I selected this book because I love the way Shinn incorporates prayer, intentions, visualization, and logic into one easy, rewarding read. This book reinforces fearless faith, opening one's heart and allowing the superconscious mind to lead us. For me, it was fun to explore a perspective from the 1920s that was still so relevant and meaningful in my life today.

If you want to dive into something that will motivate and inspire you this summer, this is your book! Read it with an open mind and heart and take in what resonates and leave the rest. One of the benefits of this book is that after you have read it, you can come back to it every day, pick and read a random paragraph, and it will help set the day's tone. Also, you may discover a couple of affirmations that speak to you that become your daily mantra.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

In our life, we sometimes feel we are moving forward without purpose. We go through struggles and trials, and rarely do we feel like the lessons we learned along the way were worth the trouble. But suppose we were to open our hearts to a sense of appreciation for every moment and witness the world through a set of eyes untainted by expectations. In that case, we might discover something truly miraculous at the very core of our path. This is the heart that beats within the story of The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

The Alchemist tells the tale of a bright-eyed Andalusian shepherd who longs to see what is over the horizon, discover more, and realize his destiny. Along his journey, he is tested and discovers the true identity of life. More importantly, he finds what role he is to play in that life. We are bound inexplicably by fate's threads, which entwine and snare us in a web that grows with every choice we make. In this book, Paulo Coelho shows us how no action is without purpose, that every effect can change the very reality of the world we live in by changing us, and that all things come together in ways we could not foresee.

There is no greater reason to read a story than to discover something new about ourselves, the world around us and the truths that keep our world turning. The Alchemist is a story that is not only based on the experiences of a simple shepherd who longs for some great destiny but also on the metaphysical truths and invisible laws that often appear arbitrary to the uninitiated. The ancient teachings of alchemy and Hermes Trismegistus, who wrote the "Emerald Tablet" (which many believe to be the foundation of modern occultism as we know it), are prevalent in this book. It is a parable that unfolds within itself and upon itself, always revealing another secret that could change the face of life as you perceive it. But don't be intimidated by this fact. You don't need mastery over the esoteric truths of the world to read this book. Rather, The Alchemist is a story that is shared with many people to help them discover that life is not aimless or arbitrary. It shows us that fate is weaved about us with purposeful intention; there are deeper truths than what we see on the surface.

The Energy Codes: The 7-Step System to Awaken Your Spirit, Heal Your Body and Live Your Best Life by Dr. Sue Morter

I love reading. My favorite spiritual book is The Energy Codes by Dr. Sue Morter. I chose this book for a few very meaningful reasons:

  1. I had a personal experience with Dr. Sue's Father, Dr. Milton Morter (and his wife), on my healing journey many moons ago.
  2. Dr. Sue has decades of experience and a passion for providing practical tools and resources to help you live your best life.
  3. Listening to the exceptionally narrated audiobook allows you to hear her abundant joy and passion for life and helping others.

I really enjoyed and benefited from this book. Dr. Sue provides a variety of techniques to activate untapped energy and neurocircuitry in the body, empower hidden potential, and tune into one's true, essential self. It works as a roadmap to guide you toward truly connecting to your essence and living your full, soulful self.

By connecting with this powerful book, you can tap into the resources that make the deepest connection in your own life, no matter your current circumstances. And through this process, you can (and will!) reach the goals you had thought unachievable. It will not just teach you but PROVE that anything is possible and never give up on yourself and what you can accomplish. This book's powerful message has completely changed my life inside and out, and it can do the same for you.

Animals Speak by Ted Andrews

In 2012, during my own journey toward spiritual awakening, I came across a book I had never heard of called Animals Speak by Ted Andrews.

I purchased it after a quick leaf through the pages and a brief scan of the book's description. And I'm glad I did! This book deals with the spiritual connection between humans and the animals we share on this planet. It taught me how animals and humans are much more interconnected than I had ever realized and that, spiritually, they are our guardians, sent directly to us as messengers. This book reveals that it is possible to learn the techniques for reading signs and omens in nature so one can open up to higher perceptions, even prophecy. It also contains a dictionary of animal, insect, and reptile symbology and tips for interpreting omens and the messages delivered when coming across any of the listed animals within the book.

If you are someone on the path of spirituality seeking a greater understanding of the connection between the animal and the human world (or just an animal lover!) I can't recommend Animals Speak enough.
