Lana Wachowski, formerly Larry Wachowski, is a revolutionary filmmaker, writer, and producer. She's spent her illustrious life working alongside sister Lilly Wachowski, formerly known as Andy Wachowski. Both transgender women, these deeply creative individuals have made an undeniable imprint on the film and television scene. Lana Wachowski's zodiac sign is evident in many of her distinct Cancer traits. It's easy to see how the zodiac influenced her personality.

A Deep Well of Creativity

Lana Wachowski is best known for her work with “The Matrix,” but this is just one of many creative projects that she's contributed to. Before entering the film business, Lana and her sister Lilly helped write comic books for Epic Comics' “Hellraiser” and “Nightbreed” series and Marvel Comics' “Razorline” and “Ectokid.”

The first script the Wachowskis wrote was “Assassins.” This earned the duo a Warner Bros. contract when Assassins was made into a film in 1995. In 1996, Lana and Lilly wrote the screenplay for the film “Bound.” In 1999, the Wachowskis made an impressive name for themselves in show business with the release of the blockbuster hit “The Matrix.” This was soon followed by the dual sequels “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions,” which were released back to back in 2003.

Wild Artistic Journeys

In subsequent years, Lana worked on “V for Vendetta,” “Speed Racer,” “Cloud Atlas,” and “Jupiter Ascending.” Though these films didn't achieve the same mainstream success as “The Matrix," they artfully highlighted the vast scope of Lana's creativity. The visionary “Speed Racer” was considered a commercial failure, grossing only $94 million worldwide despite its $120 million budget. Nevertheless, IGN's Todd Gilchrist said the film is "A masterpiece of its kind," and went on to pinpoint this as "the moment when the Wachowskis went from wunderkind directors to true auteurs."

The wild journey of “Jupiter Ascending” also got mixed reviews. Nevertheless, Lana's creative light remained as bright as ever and saw her returning once more to “The Matrix” franchise with the fascinating return of the beloved Neo and Trinity in “The Matrix Resurrections.” Like a true Cancer, Lana has a well of creativity that never runs dry.

Sensitive and Nurturing Spirit

Those born under the sign of Cancer are known to have extremely sensitive and nurturing spirits. Lana's deep well of emotions is what ultimately led her to participate in “The Matrix Resurrections.” For years, Lana refused to participate in a fourth Matrix film. She said, "Every year, Warner Bros. would ask us to make another one, and every year, they would drive truckloads of money up to our house and say, 'You could have this!'" Despite the allure, the Wachowski sisters adamantly refused time and time again.

The gap between the original installments and the latest release spanned nearly two decades. After their years of refusals, Lana finally agreed to return because she needed a way to cope with the grief of losing her parents. A deeply sensitive individual, Lana found herself struggling to handle this loss. Ultimately, she found solace in scriptwriting as she artfully resurrected the original characters from “The Matrix.”

Impressive Intuition

It's impossible to deny the intuitive nature of a scriptwriter who created the fascinating world of "The Matrix." The overarching storyline throughout the series is about breaking out of an unenlightened state. Nearly all of Lana's films feature characters who are learning to navigate their own mutability. In “Jupiter Ascending,” the plucky house cleaner, Jupiter Jones, must wrap her head around an entirely altered identity in which she discovers that she's an intergalactic heiress.

The series “Sense8,” another creation of the Wachowski sisters, follows eight strangers who find themselves mentally and emotionally linked to one another. This puts them in the position of exploring intuition, as they must learn how to navigate an increasingly complex world where they're beset by the complications of not just one identity but several. This underscores Lana's deep connection to and interest in her Cancer intuition.

Family-Focused Nature

Lana has always been extremely close with her family. She's made a career of working with her sister Lilly. The two operated out of their own office building for over a decade before they chose to sell the space in 2018. Even after leaving the 21,500-square-foot workspace, the sisters have remained close.

The famous Wachowski sisters are not only close to each other — they also maintain a strong bond with others in their family. Speaking of her coming out, Lana told New Yorker magazine that "My biggest fears were all about losing my family." She admitted that she had such a terror of coming out to her brother and sisters that she would lose sleep for days.

When she did finally tell her family that she identified as trans, she found a wellspring of support and acceptance. Lana underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2008. Her sister Lilly transitioned in 2016.

An Air of Mystery

Lana Wachowski's star sign gives her a certain air of mystery. Cancers prefer to stay out of the limelight and feel most content when they're cozied up at home. The Wachowskis are quite private. During the release of “The Matrix” films, the Wachowskis had an agreement with Warner Bros. not to issue press releases. They wanted the film to stand on its own and preferred to step back from the celebrity associated with their work.

Inspiring Authenticity

Cancers are always true to themselves. Lana embodies this element of her zodiac sign beautifully. In October 2012, Lana Wachowski won the Human Rights Campaign's Visibility Award. Lana said in her acceptance speech that she had briefly considered committing suicide as a teenager while struggling with her gender identity. Today, she is a proud supporter of TransLife Centre and works diligently to address transgender concerns.
