The Sacral Chakra or the Svadihsthana in Sanskrit means “where your being is established” and is the motion and emotion-filled center that controls how you experience pleasure and contributes to how you express your needs and wants in the world around you. The Sacral Chakra allows you to exercise your ability to show others your needs contributing to your sense of stability. This energy center can be disrupted by various circumstances, including an inability to feel validated or validate others in their place in the world. This energy center is also connected to your sexual urges and desires and can often be influenced by your experiences during puberty and young adulthood. Today we will explore these aspects of your second chakra and better understand how it moves your desires and fluidity while expressing your needs ethically and progressively.
Location and Function of The Sacral Chakra
The main function of the Sacral Chakra is to enhance and determine how you express what you need to feel stable and protected in the world. The energy of this center also controls desire and your expression of sexuality and safety in relation to your emotional energy. This chakra is located in the body center below the navel, where the womb and pelvis sit. The Sacral Chakra placed in the center of the body is what gives your center of grounding and the ability to feel your emotional and physical wants and needs and express them to others. There are a lot of different techniques for exercising and maintaining the Sacral Chakra's energy, including journaling, talk therapy, tantric exploration, self-massage, intimacy-building practices, and being radically honest with yourself and those around you about what you want and need on a daily basis.
Resonating with the color orange, the Sacral Chakra allows you to understand humanity and sexuality more expressively and securely. Its orange sunset hue can help establish waves of desire and cultivation of emotion throughout your energy field and in your emotional body by resonating with experiences that bring out what our spirit craves on the deepest level and according to our soul plan or contracts.
Blocked Sacral Chakra
The Sacral Chakra is in a central region of the lower midsection that is prone to weight retention, muscular issues, spinal tension, and problems with balance making it susceptible to imbalance. There are many symptoms or side effects that you may experience if your chakra is blocked or imbalanced. Let's review...
A blocked Sacral Chakra can disrupt your spiritual and physical health and express itself in things like upset stomach, sexual tension and discomfort, and issues expressing yourself or your needs to people or organizations involved in your life. You may find problems with material security or financial means, complicated relationships and commitment, and a struggle to find your life‘s passion or career path. There are a lot of different remedies to a blocked Sacral Chakra, including practicing meditation, hip-opening yoga poses, and encouraging circulation to the lower half of the body. It's also helpful to practice good spinal posture in the lumbar region of the spine by bending at the waist frequently - especially for people who work in seated positions. Expressing your desires regularly to yourself through journaling and to others through conversation and radical honesty is key. You can also utilize resources like mental health therapy or life coaching to get your needs and desires outside your mind, or simple reflective work like meditation or daily affirmations to reinforce your willpower and desires.
